Dwelling - Enclosure

From the four variations that you created in part 1, one will be selected to develop further.

Assignment:

Once your project has been reviewed from the photographs you have uploaded, and a scheme has been selected to develop further, re-assemble the scheme.

Make adjustments based on discussions with your instructors. Once you have been given approval to proceed, rebuild your modules using chipboard. Pieces should be cut to the nearest foot, and should be glued at right angles, not folded this time. Keep in mind that the scale we are using is 1/8"-1'-0".

You may:

  • Make minor adjustments to sizes of planes
  • Add planes and remove planes
  • Cut into your site or extend mass from it
  • Glue pieces of chipboard together and to the base.

Once you have built all of the pieces in chipboard, take photographs of the model. Upload your images to your Google Drive folder. Name the files so that they include 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, etc. so it is clear which solution they are images from Part 2.

Assessment: Your model will be assessed on

  • Craftsmanship and precision.
  • Logical arrangement of spaces. Are spaces connected in a manner this is direct and efficient?
  • Scale of spaces. Are the sizes of spaces appropriate for their function?
  • Degree of enclosure. Do all spaces have sufficient enclosure as appropriate for their function?
